Our World – Multiple Streams of Income

As we get older we all tend to get set in our ways. The problem comes when the world changes and we are left behind. Right now the world is changing fast and if you don’t want to change with it you will be left behind.
What do I mean by all this? Over the last 100 years we have had the mentality that once you become an adult you get a job working for someone else, spend the rest of your life working for that one company, retire, then die. The world isn’t like that anymore. You can’t expect to work for one company 40 years and then retire. Companies come and go on a whim these days. People in the USA still have the mentality and still are educated to get a job and work for a company for life.
Many years ago after reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert T. Kiyosaki, you could say, “I saw the light”. The way you think and the way you are educated effect if you will be rich or poor the rest of your life. I also learned that one stream, one source of income is like throwing all your eggs in a basket and then flinging it off a cliff hoping they don’t break at the bottom.
I’m here to talk about multiple sources of income. While future posts will be on how to make money online, handling the success of money, and how to think differently about your sources of income, I first want you to start thinking about multiple sources of income. I’m not talking about having multiple jobs, working 120 hours a week for some else. I’m talking about having sources of income setup that get away from an employer, there are many sources of income out there in this world. So lets see some examples of what I mean:
Sources of income other then working for someone else:
- Interest from investing in stocks.
- Profit from a retail business
- Income from owning rent houses or other property.
- Income from creative productions, such as being a writer, artist, photographer
- Income from blogging
This is a very short list and I’m sure people can add much more. The point is start thinking about income in a multi source way. Figure out what you like doing and then turn it into a source of income. Once you start changing the way you think, the way you look at employment and income you are then ready to start changing your life.
Like in all things, dieting is a good example, you have to change the way you think before you can change the rest. Is it hard? Yes. If you really want to make money online, it is something you have to do.
